Ripe by Roz Coffee Bean Scrub

I bought this coffee bean scrub about six weeks ago and have been using it about twice a week since then. Im a massive coffee addict so I was drawn to it straight away in hopes It would smell like coffee (it does!)

The packaging is gorgeous to look at , kind of looks like a bag of coffee beans. It has a resealable top and a foil inside. This scrub is dry inside so I found the packaging slightly difficult to use when my hands were wet as I didnt want to put wet hands into the pack but when i tried to pour some out It got a bit messy falling on floor etc. saying that Im not sure I could offer any suggestion as to alternative packaging.  It says on the directions to use this in the shower and you really should. The first attempt I made was in the bath I figured it would be easier as I was doing the whole tan prep thing. It was an absolute disaster. The bath looked like a coffee machine had exploded on it and It took a good bit of scrubbing to get rid of it all.It does still get slightly messy in the shower but nowhere near the bath and its very easy to wash away.

The directions tell you to rub the product between your hands to release the oils, I found after this the product was still a little dry so its worked better for me to have my hands damp or to add a little water to the scrub before using.
It looks and smells like really good quality coffee but you can definitely smell the sweetness of the almond oil coming through.
This scrub is hands down the best I have ever used for making my skin soft and smooth. The first time I used it I genuinely couldnt believe the difference in my legs It really looked like I had a professional treatment on them.

As I said I have been using this about twice a week and I really wish I had taken a before pic (even though Im not sure Id be brave enough to post) of Cellulite and how it is now. Its not gone that would be a miracle but It is so much improved my legs look more toned and the skin is so soft and summer ready. This retails for 14.95. by how I am using It I would imagine It would last just shy of 3 months.

Even though It is a little messy I totally disregard that because the product is fantastic. You can use It all over the body including face. I have only used it as a body scrub so cant comment on facial use.
It's a massive thumbs up fr

Beauty Belle Tissue Masks

A few weeks ago Michael from Beauty Belle contacted me and asked if I would like to try some of their tissue masks, thanks Michael! He sent me some Korean sheet masks from BeautyPro which I have mostly tried out and here's my thoughts. First off I want to apologise for my photos they're a bit all over the place , when you get further down you will see a toddler and a train that caused all the mayhem with the pictures, but sometimes imperfection is just perfect 💙

I have tried the nourishing collagen mask with olive extract and the eye therapy under eye mask with collagen and green tea.
You will see a brightening mask in the photo too but I'm a mama to a small boy so time to relax with masks doesn't come around very often.
The only tissue masks I had used before were the garnier moisture bomb so I will compare slightly to those.
Collagen Mask with olive extract

The masks are packaged in a really slim , tidy foil packet that rips open easily across the top. The smell is divine it just smells like a salon (you know that smell!) sweet but not overpowering and a hint of excitement that your about to get pampered mixed in.
The mask is very easy to apply and much less wet than the garnier masks. This actually made it feel way more comfortable to wear and you don't get the shock of cold when you first put it on which makes it a way more pleasant experience. The mask stays on for 20 minutes ( if you can get that long to yourself!) and you should massage in any extra product when it's off. I didn't really have any extra product after my skin up drank everything on the mask! The science behind this  mask is the use of marine collagen combined with vitamins minerals & botanics to improve skin tone and complexion, the olive in this particular mask is great for dehydrated and thirsty skin , which judging by my results perfectly describes my skin.
I really liked this mask it was easy to use and my real judge of a good mask my make up went on easier and looked better  after using ! This mask retails for just under €6 you get a great  mask at a budget price one that could easily be part of a weekly skin care routine.

I also used the eye mask from BeautyPro I absolutely loved these they were so cool really easy to put on kind of like a gel plaster, (hydropatch is the correct word) stick them on under your eyes and you can relax or do housework or whatever they don't come off. What I mean is these are really busy person friendly you don't need to sit still to have these on. They are meant to target puffiness and fine lines and they absolutely do. I'm very lucky with my eyes that I'm not having major ageing signs there yet it has all been left to my forehead, so I rarely see any difference with eye product but I saw and felt the difference with these my eyes looked and felt so much smoother and tighter and I'm hoping that adding these to my weekly routine will keep my eyes looking young(ish) for a bit longer!
This also retails at just under €6 but for this you get 3 sets of the under eye masks so it's very good value.

All of these masks are available to buy from BeautyBelle

La roche posay anthelios paediatric

Having a baby or child with eczema is hard work made even tougher in the summer months by the arrival of sunny days and suncream!
It's very tough to find a suncream that won't cause a flair up so you inevitably spend all summer buying different ones trying to get it right and before you have found it there is no more sun and your broke 😢.
The new La Roche Posay Anthelios Paediatric gel lotion has been working hard in our house over the last few sunny weeks. It's got wet skin technology so it goes on easier onto wet skin. We tried both ways and I found wet vs dry skin equally easy for application. Its very fluid and spreads easy without looking like he's plastered in cream. It's one of the only children's suncream ive ever used that hasn't stained his clothes which is a massive plus because it's so hard to get suncream stains out.

The lotion is SPF 50+ with UVA and UVB protection. It also forms a hydrophobic film that repels water. I had also read that it repels sand , we were nowhere near a beach so we headed to a sandpit to test this part and can confirm that while his clothes came home with most of the sandpit attached his skin did repel the sand 👍

So what you really want to know how did it react with the eczema, well it didn't! John has eczema
that can flare badly with different products, it's a constant worry as we have already spent time in hospital with a blood infection directly caused by bacteria entering his bloodstream through his eczema so protecting his skin right is protecting his whole body and it's very important to me. We have had zero flare ups from using the anthelios lotion and it's actually quite moisturising on the dry areas. I am so so happy with how this sun lotion has worked on John's skin I'm hoping for lots more sunny summer days with this.
The RRP is €19:95 for 250ml

All about Base : Catrice HD Foundation

This weeks All about Base I'm talking about Catrice HD liquid coverage foundation €7.95
This foundation gets really good reviews so I definitely had to give it a try. I bought this from Inish pharmacy and have been using this foundation for a couple of weeks now and I won't beat around the bush it was love at first sight for me. I ordered it from Inish Pharmacy and got a Blank Canvas F20 brush along with it.
This is the perfect brush to apply this foundation it spreads and buffs it in perfectly, the Real Techniques buffing brush is a good second option.
My first impressions of the foundation was the really expensive high end feel of the packaging.
It comes in a really heavy glass bottle and has a dropper to dispense product. For me this makes it really clean so it's a big thumbs up.

It's a full coverage foundation easily comparable to the coverage you get with Estée Lauder Double Wear. (I measure most foundations against this one !) It has a beautiful finish totally flawless and in between matt and glowy but never flat. It's easy to apply very fluid ,  You only need a small amount of product as it buffs out really well. This surprised me because with cheaper foundations you normally need to use a lot more product. It lasts a full working day about 10/11 hours without reapplying and without primer.  I have shade 020 rose beige and it's the perfect match for me, I'm a Mac nc20 or double wear "tawny" . I genuinely can't fault this foundation I've been wearing it almost every day and have even chosen it over some of my high end foundations for nights out. It also photographs beautifully if you were looking for something for such an occasion.

I have been using the liquid camouflage concealer under the foundation , this is really really amazing concealer that I highly recommend and at only €3.95 it's practically free 😉

I also use the Catrice Prime and Fine mattifying powder on my Tzone to finish € 5.49 it's a nice powder that does it's job but dosnt leave a powdery cakey surface behind.

Have you tried any of these Catrice products?

Wet n Wild 1 step wonder gel polish.

Spring is in full swing now  and it makes me want to paint my nails lovely bright colours. I got these polishes as a sample a few months ago but never got around to using them until now. They are a gel polish that only needs 1 step no lamp or no top coat. The blue "periwinkle of an eye" is a similar colour to Essie bikini so teeny and Sally Hansen sugar fix which I had just taken off my nails so I went for the pink shade "Missy in Pink ".

I built up the polish to 3 layers but I'd say I would have gotten away with 2.
First impressions were the colour was vibrant with the gel like shine, it's a complete  barbie doll shade of pink so so girly!
I also thought it's the closest I've ever gotten to salon shellac or gel polish at home. You know when you get shellac it feels like part of your nail rather than a layer of polish on top like when you normally paint your nails , well this polish feels like that like it's just your nail it's so thin on my nail that I can scrape my other nails on one and it dosnt even chip a little bit.
To be honest I was expecting it to be good because I've seen some good reviews about it in the past but I really wasn't expecting it to be that good. I've had my pink on for a week now with plenty of washing hands, nappy changes, etc in other words not being very easy on them. It's got no chips at all and the colour is still really vibrant! I've read that it can last up to two weeks and the way mine is going I'll definitely get that it seems like a polish that if left to its devices would Wear away rather than chip.
The polishes are also only €2.95 each that's a massive budget bargain and means you can get all of them ( like I already did with the wet n wild megalast lipsticks) ⬅️Which are also amazing btw!
I usually buy Wet n Wild from Dunne's Stores but if anyone wants to know any other stockists I can find out.

I kind of can't believe these were sitting here all along unused it's like a sin, I'm excited to try periwinkle of an eye next I have a huge soft spot for those shades of blue as I wore Essie bikini so teeny as my something blue for my wedding 💙

In conclusion the polish wears like a salon gel nail, lasts at least a week and is a total bargain!

All about Base : Double Wear Vs Double Wear Light

Welcome to the second post of my new series all about Base. If you haven't already take a read of last weeks post featuring BellaPierre Mineral foundation .
I have been threatening this post for so long as it's one I've searched many times myself. I am a long time user of Estée Lauder Double Wear it's my go to foundation if I want something that goes on covers everything and stays on, but I could never shake the feeling that I absolutely needed to try Double Wear Light to see what it was all about. These foundations are not exactly budget offerings and so I did search a bit before buying and so it's only right that I pass on my thoughts on them so somebody else can search for it.
This will be a different type of review from me as I totally adore double wear and always go back to it so this isn't really about if I like the product or not it's more about me showing the differences so you can make a choice between them.
I'm going to bullet point the comparisons but if anyone wants more detail feel free to ask on any of my social media (I've just joined Facebook I'll put a link at the end, let's be friends!)

  • Double Wear has glass bottle packaging while Double Wear Light is plastic squeeze tube.
  • Double Wear is full full coverage while Double Wear light is medium to full coverage.
  • Double Wear has a much larger shade range than Double Wear Light.
  • Double Wear does last longer than Double Wear Light but the light version lasts a full working day anyway.
  • Double Wear is much more fluid than the light version which is a creamier texture.
  • Double Wear can be a little drying while the light version is a lot more hydrating.
  • Double Wear gives a matt finish while the light version is dewy , I have never had to powder double Wear but definitely need a powder with light.
  • I like double Wear for a special occasion or a night out but I prefer the light version for daytime Wear as doing what it says on the tin it's lighter and more comfortable for everyday Wear.
  • Double Wear is good value for money it lasts ages for its €44 I've gotten up to a year from a bottle, double Wear Light on the other hand about €40 dosnt seem to stretch as far I use much more of the product and get only about 2.5/3 months from it, to be fair on its own for daily Wear that's not actually bad but for comparison with the original it's not wonderful.
I really like both but in conclusion it's definitely the original Double Wear that wins out for me , I'm unsure if I will ever repurchase the double Wear Light as even though it's good I have used other daytime foundations of the same quality without the €40 price tag. Use your money instead to buy the original Double Wear you won't be disappointed and I'd be surprised if you weren't converted after using it!

Brand Spotlight : Catrice

I've been trying a few bits out from Catrice lately and have been so impressed that I went on a bit of a splurge and bought almost everything they make except of course for the really cool looking gel cushion eyeliner which I don't seem to be able to get anywhere!
I'm focusing on just a small amount of what I bought today  I just couldn't post about it all and I didn't choose favourites just grabbed what was first to hand. I have the HD foundation but have it ear marked for another post and the other bits might feature at some point too.

First up the prime & fine tub, this is a mousse type primer that really reminds me of the clarins perfecting touch which was the first primer I ever owned. It evens out my skin and acts like a filler in my wrinkles giving me a lovely smooth surface to start with. This was € 5.49

Next I got the make up lightening drops I haven't used these extensively yet but picked them up because I have a double wear that's a shade too dark. They lightened it great but changed the texture slightly so not sure if that would impact on the application but for €3.95 it's a brilliant way to avoid throwing away product. I had wanted to try the darkening too but they were out of stock.

I've always used the camouflage concealer in the little tub from Catrice so I wanted to give the liquid camouflage a try. I absolutely love it, it's managed to get the same coverage as the tub with a great liquid texture that lets your foundation go on really easy over and it's only € 3.95

I got the precision brow pencil after seeing it on lovely girly bits snapchat. It's so teeny I can't believe how thin it is and it does a fantastic job at filling in brows. It's  going to be a staple for me and I am already onto my second one retails at € 2.99

No haul is complete without lipstick. Catrice are well on trend with these ombré lipsticks I got them in shade rockabilly rosewood and not expired yet  . The rockabily rosewood is really wearable for everyday and the not expired yet is a really dramatic pop of colour for an occasion. Retailing at €5.50

Well done Catrice really good quality at such bargain prices I'm definitely hooked!

I ordered all my Catrice products from Inish Pharmacy and they came so quickly and no delivery charge because I spent over €40 (I think) also got a 5% discount which popped up while I was shopping.

No samples in post.

All about Base : BellaPierre Mineral Foundation

I've been really obsessed with foundation lately and creating the perfect Base so what better way to channel than a new series exploring all about Base! First up one I wasn't overly farmiliar with
mineral foundation I had to do it right and go 100% natural , non drying and no fillers or any ingredients bulking out the product. I'd recently heard that Bare Minerals had changed their formula on some of their products to include a higher level of talc and that avid users were finding this really drying and not agreeing with their skin.
With all of these requirements in mind there is literally no other choice than BellaPierre Mineral makeup. It is 100% natural with no talc ( this dries out your skin ) or no bismouth (a filler used to bulk out foundation). In fact it has only 4 ingredients Mica  , iron oxide,  zinc oxide titanium dioxide these minerals are all naturally occurring and are some of the main ingredients of suncare and so your skin is naturally protected from sun damage.
I've used a couple of mineral foundations before and they were fine. I found they gave light coverage and so on a really good skin day I could wear it and it would even out my skin and be fine to go outside with. I did find they dried my skin a bit and my lines showed pretty quick looking especially deep in my forehead.
I was pleasantly surprised when I tried the Bella Pierre for the first time the density of it was much different to any of the mineral foundations I had tried and instead of a powdery look the powder just melted into my skin.
The coverage is also something I wasn't expecting and I kind of fell in love after I put it on it's a medium to full coverage but looks and feels so natural and easy.
You can build the product really easy and it dosnt get cakey on your skin.  You can also reapply during the day without looking patchy. I found I could get about 4.5/5 hours wear before I noticed a little wear around my chin and nose and so needed to reapply.  I didn't try this yet with any primer as I didn't want to pair it with anything that wasn't natural I was afraid I'd change the results and point of it. I'd imagine it would last longer with one though.

I've been following the biofresh (distributor in Ireland) snapchat and they emphasise how your skin  heals under this foundation. I don't have especially bad skin but I did find that the texture improved and lines on my forehead didn't appear as deep. It certainly didn't look dry at any point of me wearing it and in fact it's pretty flawless looking the entire time.
The foundation is so natural and gentle you can wear it immediately after skin treatments and to cover up acne.
It's a loose powder foundation and so is a little more time consuming than regular foundation to apply  because I'm a mama to a small lunatic boy I don't have huge amounts of time in the morning I've only been wearing it on my days off or when I've gotten up a bit earlier , there is a compact version of this foundation and I'm really tempted to try this one out as aside from the slightly longer application time  it really is the perfect daytime foundation for me.
Foundation retails  at € 34.99. The unique formulation states that one pot can last you a full year so this is a serious bargain price if it lasts that long!

You can purchase direct from their website
 https://www.biofreshskincare.ie/bellapierre-makeup.html

I have also tried a shimmery bronzer and lipstick from BellaPierre and found these just as impressive.

Along with the make up I've just tried a few samples of the skincare from Biofresh.
Long time readers will remember a series I used to do back in 2014 called Beautiful Irish Brands
Where I did a bio and review of Irish brands ( and girl bosses) breaking into the beauty industry.
I featured among others Waxperts, Holos, Nia skincare etc I'm looking into bringing this back and Catherine from Biofresh is a perfect candidate so stay tuned and hopefully will have a standalone post covering her and Biofresh skincare.

Some of the products mentioned in the post were PR samples.

Bioderma Atoderm Huile de Douche

Bioderma has just introduced a number of new products to the Irish market which is always an exciting release. The one that has caught my attention is the Ultra  nourishing anti irritation shower oil. To explain why I have been drawn to this particular product I go back a few months to my little boy(1) being rushed to hospital with suspected menangitis. While thankfully the suspicions were unfounded he was still seriously ill. After a number of tests we found out he had a bacterial blood infection caused by staphylococcus bacteria. This bacteria lives on all of our skin but my little man had rubbed it into his bloodstream through a small patch of eczema under his eye. It was a truly terrifying time for us and took almost two weeks on iv antibiotics and a couple of overnights in hospital to be cleared. After that it took about 3 months for his little body and happy self to return to normal.
The skin barrier therapy patent of this oil claims to biologically prevent the binding of staphylococcus bacteria. What I understand from this is that the formula protects the skin from being attacked by this bacteria that causes flare ups in dry skin conditions. For me anything that can reduce the likelihood of this bacteria entering the bloodstream is definitely worth a try!  I started using the shower oil about a week ago to clean the little mans face and behind his knees morning and evening (where he has his eczema) and then using all over in his bath. After two days I could notice an enormous improvement in the skin on his face and had a few others comment on how much better it was looking.
I then picked up the atoderm cream and have been using that along with the oil.
I'm so impressed with how this is working. For the very first time my baby has baby soft skin not rough skin with giant red flare ups.
I've only been using it on him for a short time so I hope it continues to impress but with the science behind it's definitely one I'll keep using with my fingers crossed I never hear the word staphylococcus infection again.
I have focused on the barrier therapy part of this product but they're are also some other great points about it. It feels lovely 😊 it claims to be a non greasy oil and it really isn't , it's a pleasure to use as is the cream.
It also contains vegetable biolipids and vitamin PP which do the following.

Vegetal biolipids* soothe the feeling of tightness and increase the resistance of the skin by recreating a protective film of the skin. Vitamin PP, capable of increasing the synthesis of lipids, helps to restore the skin barrier which improves the skin's suppleness and durably restores comfort.

It can be used by anyone from 0 months to 100+ years.
It retails for €7.50 for 200ml and €15.50 for 1litre so for anyone used to buying products for eczema it's definitely on the affordable side .
Among Bioderma new releases they have a hydrobio mask. I'm hoping to get my hands on this really soon and this one will be all for me!

Best of Beauty

It's a new year but I'm starting it with some of my favourite products that I've repurchased more times than can be counted.

Bioderma Sensibio Micellar Water

As micellar waters go this is the best on the market, it cleans every bit of make up off with just one sweep and dosnt cause any irritation or reactions. I'm a massive fan of the entire Bioderma range but this is my "if I can only choose one" product. This retails between €5.50 and €16.00.
I picked mine up from Clonaslee Pharmacy.

Waxperts Beautiful body oil

A fantastic multi use wonder oil from a fabulous brand. I love waxperts! I have both the pads and the oil and use both regularly. They are such good quality products. I started using the oil when I was pregnant to relax me and ease aching muscles and I'm pretty sure it played an enormous part in ending my horrific morning sickness 😷 And for keeping me (relatively) stretch mark free.
I've continued on using it since then and it's firmly kept its place as my favourite body oil.
If you are interested you can read an earlier full review here.

Neo Strata ultra moisturizing face cream

This cream is a game changer for my skin it has literally reversed time on my face, I know a giant claim but over the last two years it really has.
It's formulated to strengthen the skins protective barrier. It's got Polyhydroxy Acid (PHA) which improves skin texture, lines and clarity. In the last week it has proved itself to me again I had a reaction to some new Christmas make up and got a really bumpy rash on my forehead within 3 days this had completely cleared and returned the texture to normal. I've also heard fab things about the bionic face cream so I've got it on my wishlist to try soon.
This retails at € 44.95 and totally worth every penny.

Wet n wild megalast lipsticks

I've got a giant collection of these lipsticks and in my opinion these are the best budget lipsticks on the market. You will need to apply these with a lip brush as they don't slick on quickly like other lipsticks might but it's totally worth the extra effort as the staying power is so good. These lipsticks are also fantastic value at €2.99 so you can totally afford the whole collection , I buy myself a new one every time I go to Dunne's stores as a treat 😉

Paese Son of Egipt illuminating powder

This is a new one to the list I only started using this around the end of October but it really came into its own over December and Christmas season. Its a loose mineral powder highlighter/bronzer. I imagine from the name it's made to be a summer bronzer type illuminator but wow what a gorgeous winter highlighter. It's got the shimmer that is identical to Nars orgasm just without the colour. I used this every chance I got over Christmas and it never looked less than perfect. It's a loose powder but is surprisingly clean , usually loose powders go everywhere on me but not this one. Paese is a brand I'm not too familiar with but I'll definitely be trying more if this is the standard. I've got my eyes on the long cover fluid foundation for my next purchase. This will also be gorgeous in summer as the bronzing highlighter I'm pretty sure it was made to be. Retail price is € 15.95

Im looking forward to more new products to join these favourites for this year let me know if you have tried any of these and what your thoughts are. X
